Note to people going to the states with oddles of fake dvds,
best band ever!
Things could soon get a little hairy in China because of it’s relations with it’s renegade province. The commies stance on this issue is morally indefensible. They are clearly denying TW it’ democratic rights in trying to bullying them into even stopping a vote on the matter of independence, they deny TW the beifit of being a UN member and they go as far as to interfere with the WHO investiation of SARs there.
I can’t see them coming to blows over the issue, it seems to absurd to me. The logical thing would be to expand commercial contacts until goodwill develops between the too communities and TW comes naturally back into the fold. But i’ve been talking to xiao mei lately and he makes a good point. If theres one thing in international politics that the commies have always been firm about it’s that TW cannot become independant. It would be a massive loss of face if this were to happen. The commies would think that they would have to do something if they were to be taken seriously. God knows they would be fucked if they were to try and cross the straits, but they might be crazy enough to try. Look at Japan, they still havn’t apologsised for the rape of nan jing because of some face bullshit. Hopefully calmer heads will prevail.
I broke down at added some links, for my own damn convienence. so don’t y’all come all willy nilly asking me for links, you ain’t gonna get any.

Damn bought a new bike this semester and the damn thing broke already.
Now last year I had a bike that broke down all the time, but it was old; it had charecter; it had been through the long march where it had carried a codiened up Mao through the jungle on many of his secert missions to get information from (babelicous) KMT agents; it was the one peice of stell that survived the great leap forward because lie feng used it to haul piles of rice to poor starving villages before he got ran over by a car; During the cultural revulatio it rode over the backs of countless backs of capitolist roaders; after that mess was done with it went down to Shen Zhen and was used by deng xiao ping to tour the new metropolis; It had a lsight dark period after that, it was used by herion smugglers to get herion into Henan, and the needles they brought had AIDs; Then it had a renaissence as my chariot, as i flew past the toiling masses evading death at every turn.
But my new bike, eh, it’s boring.
unrelated: Maddox is right about this
oh yeah it’s about the North Korean dialectic of cunnilingus
I havn’t really written any thing about Iraq lately cause the whole thing just depresses me. I feel bad saying “I told you so,” when so many people are dying. But, one of my favorite blogger’s, (yes, I am that big a nerd), Max Swicky has an intersting couple of post on Iraq. Here and Here. Basically he thinks we should get out, cause we ain’t goona be able to fix it and our boys are just gonna keep dying.
I really like what he has to say about how Bush’s current plans for Iraq, show what a lying piece of shit he is.
“From the standpoint of the neo-cons, the Wilsonian internationalists, and non-ideological backers of the soldiers’ mission, the incipient Bush posture ought to stand as the deepest and blackest of betrayals. It’s a Republican Bay of Pigs. From the standpoint of an invasion supporter, which I would say entails a belief that the basic project is feasible (one which I don’t share), the logical step is to put in more resources and more troops. What would seem to be exceptionally craven, in this light, is that the Administration refuses to use more troops because it doesn’t want to admit it has miscalculated. Expanding the overall size of the military or instituting a draft would be a huge political embarrassment. Second, the Administration would rather use budget resources for other things like tax cuts, energy boondoggles, and the like. For what are hundreds of Americans dying? And what of the hundreds to come?
Everybody should hate George Bush. Even the people who got big tax cuts, ’cause those babies are coming back.”
